Delete your account

This page explains how to permanently delete your Ecomeals account (published by GemDev/Studio) and everything stored with it. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone.

1. Delete from inside the app

This is the fastest route and takes effect immediately.

• Open Ecomeals and sign in.
• Go to the Profile tab.
• Open Settings.
• Choose Delete Account.
• Confirm when prompted.

Your account and data are removed as soon as you confirm, and you are signed out.

2. Request deletion by email

If you have uninstalled the app or cannot sign in, email privacy@ecomeals.ca from the email address on the account, with the subject “Delete my account”.

We use the sending address to confirm the request is genuine. Requests are completed within 30 days, and in practice much sooner. We will email you once it is done.

3. What gets deleted

Deleting your account permanently erases:

• Your profile — email, display name, avatar, dietary preferences, allergies, household size, saved postal code and language
• Your fridge, freezer and pantry inventory
• Your grocery lists and any lists shared with you
• Your meal plans
• Your saved and favourite recipes, and any recipes you shared by link
• Your full chat history with the AI assistant
• Photos you uploaded — fridge scans and your profile picture
• Your push notification registrations
• Your usage records

4. What is kept, and for how long

• Anonymous operational totals. Aggregate counts used to monitor service health — for example the number of requests made on a given day. These carry no user identifier and cannot be traced back to you.
• Purchase records held by the app stores. If you bought a subscription, Google Play or Apple keeps its own record of that transaction for their legal and tax obligations. Those records belong to them, not to us, and deleting your Ecomeals account does not remove them.

We keep nothing else. We do not retain a shadow copy, and we do not sell data.

5. Cancel your subscription first

Deleting your account does not cancel an active subscription, because billing is handled by the app store rather than by us. Cancel it in Google Play → Subscriptions or App Store → Subscriptions before deleting, otherwise you may continue to be charged.
